A FAVOURITE MISHEARD SONG LYRIC

It can be found in 'Push It' by Salt n Pepa which lives on the following wondrous piece of plastic:

What the actual words are:

"Salt n Pepa's here, and we're in effect. Want you push it back."

And what I like to pretend they are saying is:

"Salt n Pepa's here, and we, in effect, want you to push it back."

I just find my version to be a more interesting use of language. But I really don't want to develop this idea any further today.

I never misheard this particular lyric. But now I see it written down I am quite bothered by the incorrectness of "Salt'n'Pepa's here".

Surely it ought to be "Salt'n'Pepa are here".

Not necessarily, because Salt'n'Pepa is also the name of the group as well as its members, it is in fact a singular and the contracted "is" is perfectly fine, though it does sound a bit strange, it's not grammatically wrong.

(Unlike my answer there, which is a grammatical basket case, carry on, y'all.)

OMG ive just got my first taste of eurovision. can i say how unpleased i was with scooch. surely their name could be changed to complete bollocks. they have unashamedly ripped everything off from steps. for which they should be ashamed of. we all know there can only ever be one real steps. but that doesnt include the post break up lisa and h bizarre try at keeping their names in the papers and on the cd racks. was at G.A.Y last night where they kindly provided the the team of scooch with pink airline outfits and all of us were given union jacks to fly....its was one of the lamest things i had ever witnessed but there was something completely irresitable at the same time and, i...er...flew the flag the whole song through. look, it was a caught up in the moment thing.
but the funniest thing before that was the appearance of right said fred. even though they were popular 15 years ago, they still only played the 3 hits they ever had, im too sexy, dont talk just kiss and deeply dippy (although i'd hardly call the last two hits). the funniest thing was that they started with im too sexy and then they finished with the 2007 version of im too sexy. i cant decide whether its complete genius or just sheer ridiculousness that they are doing a cover of their own hit.....
anyway dear william, i have sent you and email assuming your email addresses are correct.
