I was faced with a choice, at a difficult age. Would I write a book, or should I take to the stage

ON LAST NIGHT'S IDOL (OR, WHEN FOP WILL CONSIDER SUPPORTING THAT TEDIOUS DULLARD, ,HAYLEY JENSEN)

1.

Well. She's through. We kind of don't really care, which is odd! She's generic and blonde, and this is normally what we LIKE, in a pop. Do you know how much we have tried to like Hayley Jensen? (GYAC: not very much).

However, we will possibly give her a run in the Fop sidebar if she casts aside her wearisome range of "beautiful" ballads in favour of some Fragma/DJ Sammy/Lasgo style pop-trance stormers. Don't you see, she'd be PERFECT for this. Blonde, untenably generic, sings nicely in tune (but in a way that is most unremarkable), no discernible personality, pretty (enough). Get John Foreman the sheet music for the seminal "Toca's Miracle", on the double!

This is what we mean/expect

2.

What, what, WHAT? Really? No.

REALLY?

He claims to love "power pop". Where is the evidence of this, please. All we have had so far is the safety of mid-tempo "numbers" and some blubbering (in every sense, yes).

3.

And she was lovelier than EVER last night. She is someone who we would like to be/can imagine being friends with. Goodness, she's excellent. Do NOT fuck this up, Australia.

Facts about Fragma:

* Their name means "fence" in Greek! BUT THEY'RE NOT ACTUALLY GREEK
* As a child, singer Damae "had this dream of combining singing and dancing"!
* Another of them, Joern, used to be in a band called The Discovery of Animal Behaviour. But he gave that away, apparently because he "never goes for compromises" and "good music needs good lyrics"!
* Fragma was apparently awarded the "worst band" award at a recent Norwegian Spellemannprisen Awards. This is clearly an "administrative error" by the normally sensible Norwegians.
