I was faced with a choice, at a difficult age. Would I write a book, or should I take to the stage

FOP'S FAVOURITE TINAS

1. Cousins!

(Because her new song "Hymn" is simply lovely. Enthusiastic But Mediocre have a little to say on the matter presently, which is frankly how we found out about it and subsequently decided to Rank The Tinas.)
Rating: 5 x Gretel Killeens

EDIT: 1.5. Thomsen!

(We almost FORGOT Finlay from out of Home and Away and The Pop. But we learned recently that:
* She was born in Denmark!; and
* She has a sister with the name "Sussi"!
And that's good enough for us. She doesn't quite knock Tina's Cousins from the top though, as she hasn't recently punched out any pop-trance singles, that we know of.)

2. Turner!

(Because of a song from the olden days called "What you get is what you see".)

+0.5

3. Arena!

(Because although she is something of a disgrace these days, all French ballads and having her lips done, we will never forget the days of the "Strong as Steel" album - unlike Tina herself, who pretends her career began with "Chains".)

4. Yothers!

(Because of the above photo.)

Is there a Tina we should have included? Tell us! We get the feeling that there is something missing from this post (not that that's ever prevented a hearty "click" on the Blogger "Publish" button before).

I have a feeling you may want to edit this before the Pop Girls see it.

Well if you had left Tina T off this list, you would have at least got a very firm but fair Tina T style TSK!

She's our favourite Tina for sure...and we ever released her version of "Underwater Love" she'd be the worlds!

Not that in some eyes, she isn't already!

Tina Arena's lips are real - they're clearly there from her Strong As Steel days. FOr a moment of parodic genius, see Gina Riley's early 90s Fast Forward take-off of "I Need Your Body" - "I've got these boobies, god I've got these boobies, running free. I didn't have this problem singing songs when I was three..." FOr the record, if you'd released Strong As Steel, you'd probably try and pretend you hadn't either...(Simon)

Tina Arena's real name is Pina Arena. Does this affect the order?

Oh yes! And a later verse:

"I've got this body, this bloody body, running free!"
(and, while pointing at her breasts:
"They are releasing... a brand new single.. without me!"

I think Tina Arena has done very well, considering that she's still here after what? 30 years or so? It does not hurt that she blossomed to a beautiful chanteuse we know today. Not to mention her glorious voice. :)
Back in the 'Strong As Steel' days, people can label her all they want but Tiny Tina's not a one-hit wonder now. Good for her!
